Program

What the City. Perspectives of Munich
Our "What the City" exhibition in the former armory on St.-Jakobs-Platz takes a variety of slants on the city of Munich, its historical development, and its visions of tomorrow.

Local History, Neighborhood Voices. Life by the Wholesale Market and Slaughterhouse
In June 2026, the Münchner Stadtmuseum will stage a guest appearance at the former livestock market, inviting local residents to gather, explore, share, collect, and present the histories of their nearby neighborhoods.

Product – Advertising. A Visual Dialog between Industrially Produced Goods and their Advertising Posters
Historical industrial products from the Deutsches Museum combined with their advertising posters from the Münchner Stadtmuseum’s Advertising Art Collection – now online!

Münchner Fotogeschichten: Department Store Photography at Hermann Tietz
In the first decades of the 20th century, Schützenstraße was a promenade for travellers, onlookers and shoppers. So it's no surprise that a veritable photographer's quarter developed in such a small space.
