Rules of conduct for visiting the museum in the context of the Coronavirus pandemic

The Munich City Museum is opening step-by-step

The special exhibitions “Paragons Afterimages. Photographs from the Berlin University of the Arts 1850-1930" and "Ready to go! Shoe-motion” can be seen again since Tuesday, 12th May. We are delighted that both exhibitions can be extended! "Paragons Afterimages. Photographs from the Berlin University of the Arts 1850-1930 " will now run until 26th July 2020 and "Ready to go! Shoe-motion” can now be seen until 10th January 2021.

The permanent exhibitions including "Typically Munich!" will remain closed until further notice.

Mediation Services & Guided Tours

Until further notice, we are not able to offer public tours or any kind of exhibition programme for groups at the Münchner Stadtmuseum. For questions, please contact us via email: buchung.stadtmuseummuenchende. It is not allowed to form groups with other museum visitors.
Audio guides can also not be issued until further notice.

Day Tickets

If possible, please pay for your entrance tickets without cash. We accept all Credit Cards except American Express.

Entrance & Barrier-free Access

The Munich City Museum is entered solely through the access at St.-Jakobs-Platz. Visitors with mobility restrictions or prams should use the barrier-free access on Oberanger as usual. The museum must be entered via the inner courtyard and exited on Sebastiansplatz.

Compulsory Face Masks

Face masks must be worn throughout the Munich City Museum.

Rules of Hygiene and Conduct

  • Keep a distance to other people of at least 1.5 metres.

  • Wash your hands regularly and observe the sneezing and coughing etiquette.

  • Be considerate towards other visitors:

    • Keep to the right in order to ensure the minimum distance to on-coming people.
    • Wait at narrow entrances and stairs until the area beyond is free again.
    • Do not enter smaller rooms unless the safety distance of 1.5 to 2 metres can be upheld.
    • Do not dwell too long in front of individual exhibits in order to allow other visitors to look at the works.
  • The use of lifts is reserved for visitors with mobility restrictions. Please observe the rules of hygiene in lifts and let other passengers get out of the lift – whilst maintaining the safety distance – before you get out yourself.
