Indonesia # Bronze.Bamboo.Beats

The Gamelan is a musical ensemble hailing from the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali, commonly thought of simply as vacation resorts. Claude Debussy (1862-1918) was the first, in the world of Western music, to recognize the highly developed culture that underpinned this percussion orchestra when he experienced Javanese gamelan performances at the World Exposition in Paris in 1889.

„Former Jewish-owned property” – Art works acquired by the Münchner Stadtmuseum during National Socialism

A key research priority for the Münchner Stadtmuseum is to investigate the provenance of the works of art from its own collections. Our museum is the first in Munich to devote an entire exhibition to this topic. This will allow us to shine a light on our museum’s particular history during the Nazi era.

Program

A number of special events will take place during the extended opening hours.
Please refer to the German program for details.
