Highlights of the Münchner Stadtmuseum

In addition to its cultural kaleidoscope of exquisitely constructed instruments, the Münchner Stadtmuseum's Music Collection contains an outstanding cross-section of the entire world of music making. The gamelan offers a small but highly authentic illustration of how we can appreciate little-known music that revolves around bronze percussion instruments. Small and large ensembles of these metallic-sounding instruments have been capturing the imagination of Western composers for the past 200 years. The gamelan can be viewed in the permanent exhibition of the Music Collection on the fourth floor.
