Roll up, roll up! For all the fun of the fair!

Just in time for the Octoberfest season
Reopening of Puppet Theater/Fairground Attraction collection

Pining for the fun of the fairground, creepy ghost train rides and the thrills and spills of the merry-go-round? If you are suffering from acute Oktoberfest withdrawal symptoms, the Münchner Stadtmuseum is here to help. The Puppet Theater/Fairground Attraction collection is back and timed to open just when this year’s beer festival would have started – if it hadn’t been canceled due to the current pandemic.
The collection, spread over some 1,000 m², invites you to explore the history of puppet theater since the 19th century and relive Munich’s Oktoberfest of the olden days. An entire section is devoted to spotlighting the “Popular Entertainment” and “Munich Oktoberfest” themes. Mechanical figures, automata, a shooting gallery, fairground decorations, merry-go-round animals, barrel organs and even a curiosity collection… fun for everyone. Candy machines, decorations from funfair rides, everything you would normally find at the Oktoberfest. So, roll up, roll up and enjoy the fun of the fair!
